Importing to another country

Importing within the EU

Within the EU, goods can move freely without customs. Once a product has been declared inside the EU, it can move freely from one country to another, unless the item is an export controlled product.

You can always ship incoming goods from the EU directly to an OGOship EU warehouse.

Importing from outside the EU

When goods are imported from outside the EU to the EU such as to Estonia or Finland, customs and VAT will be payable to the country where the goods are imported to. There are a few things to consider:

  • Your company needs an EORI-number. This can be obtained from customs authorities from the country where your company is registered in. The EORI number is the European Common Customs Tariff number issued to companies trading within the EU.
  • You pay the local VAT when importing to an EU country. E.g. when importing to Estonia, you would need to pay 20% VAT (Estonian VAT) on import, which you can later withdraw from Estonia if you are not otherwise registered as a VAT payer in Estonia.

The goods declaration process in Estonia is inexpensive. VAT is only 20% and the customs clearance service is inexpensive. Ask your freight company to handle the customs clearance for you.
